Our Vision

A Community of Faith Pointing Gainesville to Christ!

Our Mission

We exist to reach the unchurched, strengthen families, and build community as we proclaim the message of Christ and His Kingdom to the city of Gainesville and beyond.

Our Core Values

Worship

We exist to foster an environment that is focused on the corporate assembling of the saints, who seek to make room for the Holy Spirit, and produce an atmosphere that is conducive for worship. We believe worship is the primary purpose for which both the individual and church body exists, and that genuine worship is accompanied by liberty and a freedom that only the Spirit of God can bring

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the Lord is the great God,
And the great King above all gods.

Psalm 95: 1-3

Service

We seek to advance the Kingdom of God and reach the unchurched through serving. By volunteering our time, gifts, and talents, we radically impact our local church, community, and world for Christ. Every individual has a purpose and a call to serve.

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 9:37-38

Discipleship

We seek to nurture the individual, couple, and family into a healthy, mature, and fruitful walk with Christ. We desire to see every individual grow in God’s word and apply it to their daily lives. It is at the core of Biblical Christianity that every individual is called to forsake all and follow Christ. Biblical believing is following.

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

Matthew 16:24

Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.”

Luke 14:25-27

Generosity

Tithing is a Biblical principle that both precedes the law and transcends the law, culminating in the New Testament with giving demonstrated beyond the requirements of the Old Testament. The tithe belongs to the Lord. However, generosity is giving that exceeds what is merely expected. The church, following the New Testament model, is to be a people of radical generosity. Generosity is the seed for bountiful blessings.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Malachi 3:10

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. … Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me

Matthew 25:35-36, 40

And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need

Acts 4:33-35

Pentecostal

We are a New Testament, Spirit-filled church that teaches the fundamental truth of the infilling of the Holy Spirit for every believer, given to empower the church for effective evangelism, and for the operation of spiritual gifts in the corporate body for the purpose of edification.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:8

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.

1 Corinthian 12: 4-7

Community

We exist to love all people without partiality, to create a place of community where fellowship is commonplace, and where every individual can find purpose and a sense of belonging. At Cross Point Church, we seek to be a church where many diverse individuals come together as one.

So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Acts 2:46-47

What We Believe

We believe...

The Bible

In the verbal inspiration of the Bible

God

In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Jesus Christ

That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

New Birth

That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost. Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.

Healing

Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

Holy Spirit

In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost.

Water Baptism

In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Eternal Life

In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years. In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

Sacraments

In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.
